New England Archivists seeks volunteers to form the newly-established Inclusion and Diversity Committee, including a committee chair and three committee members. The Inclusion and Diversity Committee (IDC), with the Inclusion and Diversity Coordinator as chair, will lead NEA’s ongoing efforts to build and maintain an inclusive environment, where differences of opinion, beliefs, and values are sought, listened to, respected, and valued. Read a full description of the committee’s responsibilities here.

The initial committee will establish staggered terms: one member will serve one (1) year, one will serve two (2) years, and one will serve three (3) years. The Inclusion and Diversity Coordinator/chair of the committee will serve a three-year term. This is a critical moment in our organizational history to maintain and expand NEA’s commitment to inclusion, diversity, and engagement with social justice concerns both within our professional community and on the national (and world) stage. Whether you are a student, emerging, or seasoned member of New England's archival community, if you have a passion for social justice, this new committee provides a great opportunity to make a tangible difference in your chosen field.

Serving on an NEA committee is also a great way to contribute to our regional archival association, help make decisions that will drive our organization, network with other archivists in the community, and strengthen your professional skills.

If you are interested in joining this vital NEA committee, or know someone who would be a good candidate, please contact the current Inclusion and Diversity Coordinator, Anna Clutterbuck-Cook, at diversity@newenglandarchivists.org. Volunteers will be asked to provide a brief statement of interest and experience so that the board may consider their candidacy. Committee members must exhibit a strong commitment to inclusion and diversity, demonstrating knowledge of the issues and personal and/or workplace experience with social justice advocacy. First-time volunteers are encouraged to apply.

    Dear New England Archivists members:

The field of archives is changing every day -- and this is your chance to help shape the evolving profession in the New England region. Participate in the NEA's annual Membership Survey to help us better serve you and our profession. We are interested in feedback from current members and/or members whose membership has lapsed. Your responses will be completely anonymous.

The survey, which takes about 15 minutes, includes questions about general membership, meetings and events, education/training, NEA roundtables, and how NEAcommunicates with members. At the end of the survey, current NEA members can enter to win our prize: a free year of membership in NEA!

The survey is open from now until Friday, Jan 6, 2017 at 11:59 pm. The NEA Membership Committee thanks you for your participation.

You can access it by logging into the member portal.
